Title: Excel 2010 For Dummies
Author: Greg Harvey
Publisher: Wiley
ISBN: 9780470489536

Advanced Excel users should pay attention to the line in the Introduction that this book is “for readers with no intention whatsoever of becoming spreadsheet gurus”. This book is geared toward (a) readers that have never used Excel or (b) users that are only utilizing the basic features of Excel, math calculations on rows/columns of numbers for example.

The book is organized in 15 chapters.
  1. The Excel 2010 User Experience
  2. Creating a Spreadsheet from Scratch
  3. Making It All Look Pretty
  4. Going Through Changes
  5. Printing the Masterpiece
  6. Maintaining the Worksheet
  7. Maintaining Multiple Worksheets
  8. Doing What-If Analysis
  9. Playing with Pivot Tables
  10. Charming Charts and Gorgeous Graphics
  11. Getting on the Data List
  12. Linking, Automating, and Sharing Spreadsheets
  13. Top Ten Features in Excel 2010
  14. Top Ten Beginner Basics
  15. The Ten Commandments of Excel 2010

These chapters cover numerous topics, such as creating charts, using pivot tables, and some of Excel's data analysis capabilities. The information contained in these chapters is probably sufficient for users never exposed to the topics, however, advanced users may become bored with the book.

Advanced users of previous Excel versions may be interested in the chapter titled Top Ten Features in Excel 2010 , however, this chapter is only three pages. You have to go through the book if you really want to learn how to accomplish a task in Excel 2010. This seems to run contrary to the back cover's claim that an Excel veteran can “understand the 2010 version in a hurry”.
